A regular day at Las Encinas, the ritzy private school at the center of Elite, can involve shower sex, a visit from homicide detectives or preparations for a multimillion-dollar party — sometimes all three — all before homeroom. Las Encinas kids experience more in a single school year than many people undergo in a lifetime. So much happens during their teenage years. What grade are these students actually in — and how much longer they have to survive the agonies and ecstasies of their high-body-count high school.

Samuel “Samu” García (Itzan Escamilla) 

Grade: Senior  What have they experienced at their tender age? A lot, particularly as someone who had to do their senior year twice at Las Encinas. Samu grieved the death of his first love (María Pedraza’s Marina Nunier), has been the subject of many criminal investigations, tripped through multiple romances with rich women and was even assumed dead, just to name a few of his challenges over Elite’s five seasons.

Omar Shanaa (Omar Ayuso) 

Grade: Senior  What have they experienced at their tender age? Mostly romantic chaos. Since Omar entered Las Encinas as a student in Season 4, he’s been party to the drama from the get-go. First, as a drug dealer and brother to Las Encinas student Nadia (Mina El Hammani), and then as the love interest to Ander (Arón Piper). Omar supports Ander through a cancer diagnosis and eventually falls into a messy love triangle with Patrick Blanco (Manu Rios), which includes threesomes and one-on-one revenge sex. At least Omar hasn’t been the suspect of a major murder investigation yet.

Rebeka “Rebe” Parrilla (Claudia Salas) 

Grade: Senior  What have they experienced at their tender age? So much after joining Elite in Season 2. Rebe has dealt with a drug-dealing mom, a complicated (and ultimately failed) romance with Samu, an on-again, off-again relationship with Mencía Blanco (Martina Cariddi) and the realization that her Mencía is moonlighting as a sex worker.

Patrick Blanco (Manu Rios) 

Grade: Senior   What have they experienced at their tender age? The Blanco family’s troubles started before they even got to Elite. As a child, Patrick was in a car accident that killed his mother and left him in a coma. Since his entrance into Las Encinas in Season 4, party boy Patrick’s served as a low-stakes troublemaker in Omar and Ander’s beloved romance. He can’t enter a school shower without hitting on someone. (Often, things escalate from there.) On a far more serious note, Patrick has to stand by his family following the attempted murder of his twin, Ari (Carla Díaz).

Ariadna “Ari” Blanco (Carla Díaz) 

Grade: Senior   What have they experienced at their tender age? First and foremost: Her New Year’s Eve attack at the hands of Armando (Andrés Velencoso), a vindictive client of her little sister, Mencía. Thankfully, Ari survives and is able to enter the spring semester at Las Encinas. On the lighter side, Ari’s been part of multiple love triangles and a sexy towel party, and she introduced her bad girl alter ego, Ira, in Season 4.

Mencía Blanco (Martina Cariddi) 

Grade: Senior, skipped a grade  What have they experienced at their tender age? No one in Elite has sadder eyes than Mencía, the baby of the Blanco family. (She’s the smartest sibling and was bumped up a class year.) She still blames herself for the death of her mother, years before the events of Elite. She becomes a sex worker as revenge against her controlling father and survives abuse from Armando, a predatory older man. In Season 5, she’s an integral pawn in her father’s bid to maintain his position at Las Encinas. Mencía deserves to be protected at all costs.

Cayetana “Caye” Grajera (Georgina Amorós) 

Grade: None What have they survived at their tender age? Caye goes from being a student at Las Encinas to its cleaning lady. She’s involved in a troubled throuple, a murder cover-up and an identity cover-up. Few characters are more game for Elite shenanigans than Caye. However, on a far more serious front, Caye has also had to endure predatory and abusive behavior from her crush, Phillipe von Triesenberg (Pol Granch).

Prince Phillipe von Triesenberg (Pol Granch) 

Grade: Senior  What have they survived at their tender age? It is more often than not that the people around the prince must survive their experiences with him as Phillipe’s time on Elite has proven. Phillipe has been accused of sexual assault twice.

Isadora (Valentina Zenere) 

Grade: Empress What have they survived at their tender age? Technically, Isadora appears to be a senior, sharing classes with Phillipe and the rest of the core Elite crew. But the Ibiza socialite’s essence cannot be limited to a grade — Isadora identifies as an empress before anything involving school. At this point in her life, Isadora has experienced the abandonment of her wealthy parents, a raucous life in her hometown party island, built a seemingly iconic DJ career and suffered in silence through a drug addiction problem.

Iván (André Lamoglia) 

Grade: Just below Patrick   What have they survived at their tender age? In comparison to the rest of his classmate’s troubles and antics, Iván’s past seems tame. He has followed his famous footballer dad from team to team around the world, possibly picking up romances along the way. The biggest drama of Iván’s life arrives when he shows up at Las Encinas and finds himself in a love triangle with Patrick, Patrick’s twin sister Ari and his own father.
